Sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus)

Occurrence in Děčín It would be difficult to find a larger park in Děčín where the sycamore maple would be missing. But the oldest specimens can be found in the chateau parks at Mariánské louka and U Tyrše, also in the parks of Bažantnice, Pastýřská stěna and U Kaple, in the Kvádrberk arboretum. The tree with which you stand has a trunk circumference of 310cm, ie almost 1m in diameter, and is one of the largest in Děčín.
Application

Important woody species for landscaping and urban parks in areas with higher air humidity. It is suitable for groups as well as solitaire. He hates salinization, so its use in urban alleys is problematic. It has many cultivars and forms, naturally - ie self-seeding multiplies:

Acer pseudoplatanus ´Atropurpureum´ - the leaves are purple on the underside, in the autumn they are yellow-violet two-colored (in Děčín for example in Wolkerova Street).

Acer pseudoplatanus erythrocarpum - red, red leaves, shiny green on both sides

Other cultivars:

Acer pseudoplatanus 'Leopoldii' - the leaves are creamy to yellow speckled, densely green dotted (in Děčín, for example, in a park on Loubská Street).

Acer pseudoplatanus 'Variegatum' - similar to the previous one, from which it differs in smaller white-yellow spots (in Děčín, for example, in the U Kaple forest park).
Habitat From lowlands to mountain positions at altitudes of 1100-1400 m above sea level. It is demanding on wool in both soil and air, but it hates permanent waterlogging. It is resistant to frost and exhalates.

The highest perimeter in the Czech Republic has sycamore maple growing in Věstoňovice in Třebíč, which has a trunk circumference of 830 cm, making it one of the strongest in the world.

Worldwide occurrence: the largest featured specimen is Pizzo Lipo, Nebrodi in Italy, which reached 10.29 m in 2013. Another large specimen grows in the same region (Nebrodi), also in Germany, England, and Ireland, we have circuitry greater than 8.5 m.
